Treatment is normally performed <strong>in a single session.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What we aim to achieve with endodontics is <strong>clean each canal and leave the tooth in a fit state to then be repaired.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With this treatment <strong>we can save teeth and avoid them being extracted<\/strong>, so they can continue to fulfil their biting function and preserve their normal appearance. In these cases, a fistula is sometimes produced, a small lump that can occasionally appear at about 10 mm above the crown of the affected tooth. <strong>Blows and gum infections<\/strong> can also lead to the need for endodontic treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This treatment may also be performed if there is a phlegmon,<\/strong> in fact, it&#8217;s the ideal treatment for sorting out this problem, as phlegmons are produced by an infectious process in the tissues surrounding the tooth. This can sometimes be caused by a diseased pulp and this treatment eliminates the affected pulp and removes infection from the tooth canals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Endodontic treatment is the best option as the top priority is to try to save the natural teeth<\/strong>, although if this isn&#8217;t possible, the tooth will have to be removed and replaced with a suitable prosthetic.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"row \"><div class=\"col-md-6     text-default small-screen-default\"  ><div class=\"figure img_redonda element-short-top element-short-bottom image-filter-none image-filter-onhover fade-in text-center figcaption-middle normalwidth\" data-os-animation=\"none\" data-os-animation-delay=\"0s\">\n            <span class=\"figure-image\">\n    \n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/igbdental.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Foto_Endodoncia_02B.jpg\" alt=\"Endodontics\"  class=\"normalwidth\" \/>    \n            <\/span>\n    \n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"col-md-6    pad_5 text-default small-screen-default\"  ><header class=\"text-default  element-medium-top element-short-bottom not-condensed\" data-os-animation=\"none\" data-os-animation-delay=\"0s\" >\n    <h2 class=\"normal regular no-bordered-header bordered-normal\" >\n        How are teeth strengthened following this treatment?    <\/h2>\n    <\/header>\n<div class=\"txt_big element-short-top element-short-bottom\" data-os-animation=\"none\" data-os-animation-delay=\"0s\">\n    <p>A tooth that has received endodontic treatment will be weakened and in the medium to long term this may lead to it becoming fractured. This is in addition to the loss of dental structure that occurred when the decay was cleaned out. This is why it&#8217;s <strong>advisable to fit a porcelain crown to strengthen<\/strong> these teeth and preserve their integrity in the long term.<\/p>\n<p>This procedure is done under local anaesthetic so it&#8217;s not painful. It&#8217;s also possible that when the anaesthetic wears off the patient may feel some pain that lasts a few days, but we&#8217;ll prescribe painkillers for you so <strong>you can go straight back to
